On coaches, continuous photoluminescent strips guide passengers to the emergency exits and help them orientate themselves in the dark. Low-location markings are especially useful for children.

Stair markings

In order to reduce the danger of tripping, the steps on a coach must be marked. Safe stair markings are especially important in emergency situations.

Handrails

The handles on door openings and handrail stairs can also be equipped with photoluminescent strips in order to guarantee visibility in the dark, regardless of electricity supply.

Signs

So that markings and pictograms are also clearly visible at night and in emergency situations, P.E.R. offers photoluminescent markings that are specially designed for coaches. This means that the key facilities are permanently marked:

Emergency hammer

The glass is broken and removed with the help of an emergency hammer that is located near the glass pane. The mounting of the emergency hammer is not illuminated and thus hard to see in the dark.
The emergency hammer retains its red signal colour and will be subsequently equipped with photoluminescent strips in part only. This guarantees good visibility in the dark, so that it can be quickly located in emergencies.

Please note that the emergency hammer may NOT be concealed by curtains or similar items.

Depending on the size of the emergency hammer, the markings will be tailor-made by us.

Roof openings

In emergencies, roof openings are vital exits. Clearly visible photoluminescent emergency opening markings, pictograms and signs mean that these emergency exits can be quickly located.

Depending on the type of coach, the photoluminescent markings for the roof openings will be tailor-made by us.

Information sheets

As a result of the many different types of coach equipment, passengers are not familiar with the emergency system. It is therefore vital that passengers are informed of the safety facilities onboard and their function prior to the journey.

As with aeroplanes, there should be information leaflets for each seat (either attached to the backrest or inserted in the pocket) that prepare passengers for emergencies by way of pictograms and instructions on how to act in an emergency.
